about

I was born and raised in New York to Ecuadorian migrant parents.

The influence of my parents' cultural backgrounds shaped the way I think about design. They inspired me to venture out to find out who I was and what I needed to add to the world.

Starting off school at the Rhode Island School of Design helped me understand the influence of design as a tool for storytelling. I created the Sad and Spicy project in 2017 in an effort to bring attention to Latinx experiences and grievances that were both personal and shared experiences.

Moving on to study Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2018, I'm finding my inspiration in the same Ecuadorian influences that surrounded me as a child. Focusing on ethical practices and sustainable design, I continue to investigate where the line is drawn on the value of artesanias.
